Mom Meet-ups: How to Connect With Other Moms

Connecting with other moms is an important part of growing as a better mom and allows you to talk about what’s going on in your daughter’s life! Read about it here.

Some mothers and daughters talk about puberty and periods in isolation. It used to be that moms in a community came together and helped each other get through the changes that come with their daughters’ adolescence. From celebrating coming-of-age rituals to passing on vital knowledge about womanhood, daughters relied on a community of women to help them be their unstoppable selves.

Puberty can be a difficult period for mothers and daughters, and the bottom line is, you don’t have to go at it alone. But we know trying to connect can cause a scheduling disconnect. It can be so hard to meet other moms when you’re busy with work or parenting or both! But remember, maintaining a network of friends isn’t just for you, it’s for your daughter, too. Here are some ideas for connecting with other moms.

Caffeinate: You need that morning cup and so do all your friends, so head to the coffee shop early to catch a quick chat before work or playdates.

Celebrate: Find an excuse to throw a party and invite your girlfriends along with the kids. Give the kids something to keep themselves occupied while you get in some girl talk.

Congregate: Join a club, class, or organization. You know book club doesn’t always talk about the books, right?

Create: Bake, knit, sew, scrapbook, paint — it doesn’t matter. When you’re creating something together, it’s a great time to express yourself.
